A group of Christians moved from the Saint Paul Community to the city of  Shreveport and settled in the Hollywood area. Being led by the Spirit, the group organized the Calvary Baptist Church on February 22, 1948 at Coleman College. The very name of our congregation, Calvary, constantly reminds of how great our Father’s love is for us and the great debt we owe him. Assisting in the organizing were: Reverend E. M. Miles, Reverend M. C. Satterwhite, Reverend S. A. McDaniel, Sister Rena Brown, Sister Mae Jessie Henderson, Sister Betty Jones, Sister Mary Miles, Sister Sang Miles, Deacon Fred Rose, Sister Jessie Stewart, Sister Lucy Williams, Brother Robert Williams, Deacon James W. Wilson, and Sister Lee Anna Wilson.

The church relocated to 5821 Ledbetter Street on September 28, 1948 with thirty- five members. Renovations were made to the building in 1961 and 1973.  Additional property was purchased in 1978 and 2000. Our God continued to bless  through increases in members and ministries which led to the building of the edifice located at 5823 Ledbetter on May 15, 1983.  At present, God's overflow has caused the purchase and entrance to Calvary's new location at 3939 Pines Rd. Shreveport, Louisiana on January 12, 2025.
